A generation later a new map was needed, and in 1830 once again every town was required to have a survey done.
For Sunderland a very attractive map was produced by one Josiah Gould. It’s much more detailed than the 1795 plan.
The wooded slopes of Mount Toby are clearly shown along with hachures illustrating the height of the mountain.
A complete legend leads us to inns, sawmills, schoolhouses and the principal buildings in town in 1830.
It looks like every road in Sunderland was mapped along with the larger streams.
n the right side above the title note is a chart of the bearings and distances which define the land boundaries.

In the northeast corner at the Montague Town Line we see both a gristmill and a sawmill (later called Whitmores Mills) and what appears to be a Meetinghouse.

In Sunderland Center the Meetinghouse is prominently drawn on Main Street across from the Town Hall (round symbol). Across the street is a bank, and just north of that an inn.
